FIELD OF PLAY

FIELD OF PLAY

The field where the game takes place is a rectangle 18 m long by 9 m wide, divided in its central line by a net that separates the two teams. Actually, the game also takes place outside, in the free zone, as long as the ball does not touch the ground or any other element. The free zone must be at least 3 meters.

The contact of the players with the ground is continuous, usually using protection in the joints. The surface can not be rough or slippery.

In the central axis of the field, exactly on the central line that divides the field, a net is placed that is fixed in such a way that the height from the floor to the upper edge is, in the adult categories, 2.43 m for men and 2.24 m for women. This net is mounted on posts whose height reaches 2.55 m. In the youth categories, other heights apply.

The net must be taut when set up as the fact that the ball touches the net does not constitute a foul and as it bounces back it can be played again if the team still has at least one of the contact opportunities remaining.

Rotations

when a team scores a point, they will be in charge of putting the ball into play. When the serve is taken from the opponent, all six players have to rotate their position on the court in a clockwise direction. This makes all the players (except the libero) alternate in the positions of forwards and backs.
